Hands-On Transvaginal Ultrasound Imaging
"This is my second visit and hopefully not my last. Aside from all I've learned, what is the most important is the experience, the event. No adjective or adverb can accurately describe what KMA does or is."

Most of our Guests have had some informal exposure to ultrasound before they come to class; many have not. We created this course to close this gap from uncertainty to confidence, for any area you’ll come to work in.
Exactly what its name implies, this course is best short-term preparation possible. Even if you are already experienced, the classroom instruction alone will demystify virtually all of the academic concepts of ultra-sound physics and instrument controls. We will focus on the common, universal applications of ultrasound technology, using different organ systems as test models. Accordingly, we do not target your experience to a single organ system. We’ll also make use of several different manufactured systems to help you gain confidence in the common operation of any machine you will come to work with.
The difference between mediocrity and expert is in any career field usually only about 2%. Complete this course and you’ll come away with knowledge and skills that will boost you far above the rest in your field.
Class runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on the first day and 8:30 - noon on day two. One half of your time will be spent in classroom lectures and one half in instructor-guided, small group hands-on sessions.
Our Hands-On Scan Lab is open 24 hours during the scheduled course for your own independent practice by yourself or with your class peers. Post conference technical support and personal answers to your questions are free, forever.
Our clinical hands-on instructors personally guide each Guest through specific exercises to accomplish maximum skills development. Our hands-on approach is focused on optimizing your performance for any specialized exam. In-depth techniques for specialized applications are covered in our dedicated hands-on courses, conducted separately.

The only thing more complex than the ever-changing ultrasound findings in pregnancy is the deceptive subtlety of findings in the nongravid female pelvis. Both areas will require you to combine your clinical knowledge with new technical skill—to be able to see with the eye of the transducer.
Voluntary facility credentialing guidelines now endorsed by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology—as well as individual professional certification—demand that we demonstrate our mastery of this technology. Legislation to regulate this entire field of practice has already been introduced (and, for now, defeated) in the United States Congress. A higher-than-ever standard of practice before is upon us, now. This course will help you build the careful foundation of both kinds of skills you’ll need to ultimately fulfill these stringent guidelines.
Together we will carefully erect the mindset necessary for you to think and act with the eyes of the ultrasound probe as you study pelvic anatomy in the gravid and nonpregnant state. We’ll master the science and safety of ultrasound techniques using both surface and transvaginal approaches.
Most unique in this course is the use of live subject models for all aspects of hands-on training.
Class runs from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday. The first four days focus on skills and protocols for the incremental stages of pregnancy. Day five (optional) is dedicated exclusively to Transvaginal pelvic imaging techniques using the endocavitary approach. One half of your time will be spent in lively classroom lecture, half in small group hands-on sessions. Here you’ll learn by doing, observing, and discussion with our supportive expert faculty. You’ll also receive comprehensive course materials for lifelong reference. During the course time our Hands-On Scan Lab is open around the clock for you to practice independently or with your peers (models are not provided during these hours). Post conference technical support and personal answers to your questions are provided free forever.
As an OB-Gyn physician or Nurse Practitioner you alreadylearned a lot about ultrasound; come spend a week with us and let us validate your skills and fill in any gaps. If you’re a sonographer just entering your preceptorship along side your peers, this is the best start you can get.
We will personally guide you through specific exercises to accomplish maximum skills-development. You'll also have unlimited access after hours to the equipment and selected video instruction for self-directed study at your own pace. Classroom lectures emphasize the thought processes necessary to understand the integration of complex pathologic processes as they occur. Accordingly, our focus is on normal structural relationships in hands-on sessions, and abnormalities as presented in lecture and case study presentations.
Eight to fifteen Guests usually comprise the class. Your peers will likely include a range from allied health professionals to physicians, all with limited or no formal hands-on experience in OB/Pelvic sonography.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to gain a bedrock foundation in the application of high-resolution, real-time transvaginal ultrasound. Together we will carefully examine the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the vagina to help you develop a clinical approach to both scanning technique and quality control. If you are a ob/gyn technician expanding your skills into ultrasound, this course is a must.
Accomplished ultrasound technologists who have performed transvaginal ultrasound for longer than a year, but lack formal training in hands-on technique or interpretation will benefit greatly as well. Likewise, physicians who wish to utilize the technology for local biopsy or aspiration. Regardless of your experience or plans, you’ll exit with skills to put to use immediately.
Class runs from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Half of your time in this one-day seminar will be spent in classroom lectures and half in hands-on sessions. We’ll use classroom lectures to build the structural and anatomical model of the breast and then incorporate the physics of ultrasound imaging to identify normal and categorically diseased states. Hands-on sessions will allow you to carefully practice technique on live models in a comfortable, professional setting.
Class size is limited to eight to fifteen students.
1 day seminar. Tuition: $600.
