Foundations in Ultrasound Physics
The essential short course for all of us,

Recommended Companion to:
All Hands-On and Interpretation Courses
(because it is impossible to understand what you are seeing if you don't understand the process by which you are seeing it... and because you will be tested on your understanding of the subject, whether you are a physician or technologist)

Fundamentals of Ultrasound for Beginners (this provides a video version of the live course, contains all visuals from the live course and separate workbook, containing new didactic material)

Overview:
Fear physics no more, and walk away from this video course with much more than just a superficial knowledge of the subject, knowledge that will last only as long as your Registry Exam.

Common, everyday analogies and uncommon 3-D still-frame graphics, coupled with Mr. Mauney's unique teaching style make this visit both fun and instructive.  And you can master the subject at your own pace, in private. Every medical imaging service should have a copy on your library shelf. It is essential for the self-taught, and priceless for the beginner to the subject.

Even instructors in physics will find plenty of new analogies to help them in communicating the material.  In fact, among our first subscribers was Fred Kremkau, PhD, author of the most recognized course and textbook in the field. Includes a complete workbook and self test.

Presented by Keith Mauney. Approximately six hours, on three volumes. VHS format.

Cardiac Anatomy & Physiology for the Echocardiographer,
including Correlation of Electromechanical Events

Recommended Companion To:
Hands-On Cardiac Imaging (especially for non-cardiology professionals, these skills begin the four-dimensional, interactive thought process necessary to master cardiology)

Hands-On Cardiac Doppler (because the interaction of structure, physiology, form and function come together in this series)

Interpretation of the Echocardiogram (especially for non-fellowship-trained cardiology practitioners; these skills lay down the requisite four-dimensional mindset necessary to understand echocardiography)

Overview:
If you think this is a high-school review of cardiac anatomy, you'd better think again. This complete series serves as a cornerstone for building a lifelong, intuitive understanding of cardiology. It is prerequisite knowledge for entering any aspect of cardiology, at every level.

More than just structural anatomy, this series carefully reveals the organizational design of the heart and its role in the separate processes of creating pressure and ejecting blood.  And the best part is you can study at your own pace, in private.

In Part One we'll construct the heart from nothing, to better understand the functional basis of its architectural design, including the changes that occur in diseased states.

Part Two correlates the instantaneous EKG events with their mechanical consequences to detail the timing and course of pressure/flow relationships.  If you've ever had to analyze an arterial line training, an M-mode echocardiogram, or a two dimensional cardiac image, you need this course.

Presented by Keith Mauney. Approximately three hours, on two volumes. VHS format.

Introduction to Electrophysiology & Cardiac Rhythm Analysis Workshop

Recommended Companion To:
Hands-On Cardiac Imaging (as a first step in better understanding the primary elements of cardiac dysfunction which most powerfully influence the cardiac patient-- and the echocardiogram)

Hands-On Cardiac Doppler (to understand finally the interdependent relationship of electrophysiology to cardiac flow dynamics and their accurate measure with Doppler)

Overview:
The reason most professionals avoid study of the electrocardiogram is because the subject is rarely taught in a practical, systematic way.

Offering a solid introduction to EKG rhythms, this course carefully builds the mindset necessary to analyze any disturbance of the cardiac conduction system.

In Volume One, you'll take a detailed look at the structure and function of the conduction system. This is followed by a discussion of the common types of supraventricular and ventricular rhythms, including conduction delays, blocks, and preexcitation conditions.

Volume Two consists of an EKG video workshop in which Mr. Mauney gives you the answers and then viewer works backward, through a systematic reasoning of how the rhythm is classified.

Presented by Keith Mauney.  Approximately four hours, on two volumes. VHS format.

Cardiovascular Physiology: The Entire Story

Recommended Companion To:
Hands-On Cardiac Imaging (to expand your mental horizon and professional stature beyond the technical boundaries of ultrasound in cardiology)

Hands-On Cardiac Doppler (because your next step is to get registered in this field and the failure rate is nearly 40%)

Overview:
We asked Keith Mauney to address the fact that nearly forty percent of the applicants who take the echocardiography certification exam fail it. His reply? Create this video course as an introduction, an explanation, and a study guide. If they are serious, they'll use it. And if they learn it, they will profit from it, forever.

The research for it required three years; production a year and a half. Join us and you'll find out why.

Every word is structured to address the performance criteria for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and CCI certification exams in clinical physical principles. This is a most unusually entertaining look at the subject, including principles of:

- Cardiac contractility
- Electrocardiography
- Cardiac auscultation
- Cardiac catheterization
- Chest X-ray and others

This course is best used as a follow-up after our hands-on classes. To get maximum use from it, study it sections at a time, digesting each incremental topic before proceeding. The material contained in it can easily cover a year of self-paced study. Appropriate for professionals with remote or limited experience in the clinical facets of cardiovascular disease and its diagnosis.

Presented by Keith Mauney. Approximately seven hours, on four volumes. VHS format.

Vascular Physiology: The Complete Picture

Recommended Companion To:
Hands-On Carotid & Vertebral Duplex Imaging (because this information is not covered in detail in any of our live courses)

Hands-On Noninvasive Peripheral Venous & Arterial Testing (because this information is not covered in detail in any of our live courses)

Interpretation of Noninvasive Peripheral Vascular Testing (because every test result is based on some interactive component of these principles)

Overview:
It's the big reason over one third of applicants fail the Vascular Physics Examination: an anemic understanding of the complexity of blood flow, the body's methods of its regulation, and microvascular physiology.

Come with us on a carefully guided tour of the complete nature of blood flow, including:

- Development of Pouiselle's equation,
- Factors of resistance and their relative effects,
- Neurophysiologic mechanisms of vasoregulation, and
- The specific behavior of microvascular circulation.

Presented in three volumes that organize the topics for easy self study: Hemodynamics, Regulation and Control of Local Circulation, and The Microcirculation.

It's not easy, but it's not a secret either. This tongue-in-cheek presentation is both fun and rewarding. And you'll be able to spend the difference this knowledge will make.

Presented by Kevin Rooker, former KMA instructor. Six hours, on three volumes. VHS format.

Statistics for the Non-Statistician

Recommended companion to:
All Hands-On Cardiac and Vascular Courses (Because you will be tested on your knowledge of statistical analysis on the National Certification Exams for Cardiac and Vascular Ultrasound. Plus, you really have to know the language of science to move forward in your career with confidence.)

Overview:
Master one of the most difficult aspects of the ARDMS and CCI Registry Exams in the most painless way possible. This is easier than you think. Not faster, but easier.

Presented by Keith Mauney, this constitutes the most unusual and entertaining, yet serious, look ever at the commonly used statistical methods of sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value, and accuracy.  We'll also discuss common sources of investigative errors in comparing vascular ultrasound imaging to arteriography.

You’ll quickly understand it all as we use Chi Square analysis to examine and validate the process by which chicken eggs are packaged and sold in the retail market.

Yes, that's right. Join Mr. Mauney and his "egg-sperimental" results on screen today. You will never forget them. And you have no business reading a scientific article until you know them.

The most unusually effective presentation on the subject ever given, by Keith Mauney.
Approximately ninety minutes, on one volume. VHS format.
